Herb Carnegie (Top-left): This creator of the Futures Aces creed empowers youth to lead successful lives. Carnegie was once a star hockey player who was never granted the opportunity to play in the NHL.  www.futureaces.org

Juanita Westmoreland-Traore (Top Right): Westmoreland-Traore is the first appointed black judge in the history of Quebec. She also holds the distinction being the first black Dean of a law school in Canada’s history.

Matthew Henson (Bottom left): At the age of 12 years old Henson became an explorer traveling the sea and co-discovered the North Pole in 1909. Although born in American, Henson’s historic journey began in Canada.

M. Nourbese Philip (Bottom right): Nourbese Phillip is a prize-winning poet, writer and former lawyer whose literary work provides women, particularly those of color with empowering visions of self.
